Adapazarı which is known as Sakarya that is a river flowing into the Black Sea, is located in the Maramara Region of Turkey. Sakarya is  in the center of fertile plain of Adapazarı. This meadow is like an island which is sorrounded by the branches of the rivers.It is a late period Ottoman city.Adapazari is next to Historical Silkyroad and Ottoman Bagdat Road and in the crossroads of Istanbul and Anatolia. The history of Trade dates back to 378 BC. The name Adapazarı, “Ada Bazaar” means Island Bazaar.

When we look at the export achievements  Sakarya is the 6th city  with exports of $ 3,459,834,775 and with a share of 3.3% in 2007 in Turkey. In 2008, the export achievement was U.S. $ 2,821,211, import achievement was U.S. $ 1,709,000 and foreign trade volume   is U.S. $ 4,616,000.

Trade and Industry in Sakarya

There are 3 Organised Industrial Zones (OIZ) fully in operation active and 4 more are under construction. Fully operating organized industrial zones are built over 765 hectares, including approximetely 250 industrial lots and provide employement for approximetely  25.000 people.

4th OIZ is situated in Pamukova,  built over 200 hecatares of land, 5th OIZ is situated in Kaynarca,  built over 600 hecatares of land and 6th OIZ is situated in Ferizli and built over 1000 hecatares of land, almost ready for the investors

Organized Industrial Zones

The trade and production of ornamental plants are growing very fast in Turkey. Production of ornamental plants has become an important sector in our country. The half  of  the plant production in Turkey  is indoor and outdoor ornamental plants and close to half is the cut flower production. There are almost 7000 sellers and manufacturers more than 10.000. In 2008 total production are reached 6.567 decare with 347 businesses. At the end of the year  Sakarya is planing to exceed the domestic demand and in next ten years the export  target of the city is U.S. $ 80.000.000.
